Raleigh, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Jerian Grant scored a game-high 25 points and helped disrupt Trevor Laceys potential game-winner as No. 8 Notre Dame rallied for a thrilling 81-78 overtime victory over NC State on Sunday. The Fighting Irish stormed back from 18 down and forced overtime on V.J. Beachems tip-in just before the regulation buzzer. They trailed twice in OT before Beachems driving layup gave them the lead for good at 78-76. After Demetrius Jacksons free throw made it a three-point game, NC State called a timeout with 11.2 seconds to go and put the ball in Laceys hands. Grant hounded Lacey at the top of the key and blocked his first 3-point attempt. Lacey had a enough time to gather the loose ball and tossed up another shot that found all rim. Beachem, Jackson and Pat Connaughton all scored 11 points for the Irish (19-2, 7-1 ACC), who have won four in a row heading into their showdown against No. 5 Duke on Wednesday. Lacey finished with 13 points, seven assists and six rebounds for NC State (13-8, 4-4), which has lost back-to-back games for the first time all season. The Wolfpack had their way in the first half, hitting 62.1 percent of their shots and scoring nearly half of their points (20) in the paint. They got easy buckets off great ball movement, notably from Lacey, whose bounce pass led to a BeeJay Anya dunk and NC States largest lead at 40-22. Connaughtons tip-in at the buzzer cut Notre Dames deficit to 42-30, and the second half was a different story entirely. Whereas the Wolfpack regressed 39.3 percent shooting, the Irish connected on 7-of-14 from 3-point range after a 1-for-11 clip before halftime. A Grant 3-pointer trimmed the deficit to 48-43 just over three minutes in, and Zach Auguste gave Notre Dame its first lead, 53-52, when he pulled down a defensive rebound, threw an outlet pass, beat his defender down the court, caught up with Jacksons long bounce pass and laid it in. NC State retook the lead on a Lacey 3-pointer with under eight minutes to go and stayed there until the Irish scored five straight points in the final 1:12 of regulation. Grant made a free throw, Jackson put in a tough layup and Beachem skyed for a tip-in with 1.8 seconds remaining amid of slew of bodies under the basket. Notre Dame actually got the ball back when Abdul-Malik Abu was whistled for a push-off on the ensuing inbounds pass, and Grant got a good look at a halfcourt shot that caught the back of the rim. Game Notes Both teams had five players score in double digits, but only Auguste recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds ... Kyle Washington scored 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting for NC State, which only recorded five assists after halftime ... Notre Dame had a 43-34 rebounding advantage. Tom Seaver Jersey . 1. Did the Senators trade the wrong goalie? Lets make one thing clear: The Ottawa Senators acquired Ben Bishop from the St. Louis Blues for one reason and one reason alone. Reggie Sanders Jersey . Next years tournament is also within sight for Bosnia-Herzegovina, which has never played in a World Cup, but Cristiano Ronaldo looks destined for the playoffs with Portugal after a night when the qualifying picture in the nine groups became much clearer. http://www.redsgearshop.com/Reds-Jose-P … s-Jersey/. Bradley is one of eight players selected to the team who also played in this years World Cup in Brazil. The MLS all-stars will compete against German giants Bayern Munich in Portland on Aug. Scott Schebler Jersey . The (11-11-4) Jets are seventh in the Central Division with 26 points.  Fifth place Dallas and sixth-seeded Nashville also have 26 points, but the Stars have three games in hand on Winnipeg while Nashville has two. Custom Cincinnati Reds Jerseys . It looked like being another miserable day for Moyes when Ashley Westwood put Villa in front from a 13th-minute free kick. But Rooney headed United level seven minutes later, and the striker netted his 16th of the season for the struggling champions from the penalty spot before halftime.A 12-game winning streak has landed the Boston Bruins on top of the TSN.ca NHL Power Rankings, overtaking the St. Louis Blues. The Bruins have been consistently among the top teams for the past few months, but their current run has taken them to the top, despite not having a strength of schedule deficit compared to the Western Conference powers. Moving up this week, the Pittsburgh Penguins go from nine to six. Even though they have just one regulation win in the past six games, the Penguins also got wingers Chris Kunitz and James Neal back from injuries and that provides a relative boost compared to last weeks ranking. The never-say-die Detroit Red Wings are still hanging around in the playoff race, thanks largely to Gustav Nyquist, who has seven goals in the past six games, to help Detroit go 4-1-1 and jump to seventh in the Eastern Conference. The Red Wings, still depleted by injuries, are up from 24 to 21. Heading the otther way, the Toronto Maple Leafs have dropped five straight as goaltender James Reimer has struggled to fill in for injured starter Jonathan Bernier and the Leafs dont play a structured enough game to get by without great goaltending.ddddddddddddAs a result, they sink from 17 to 22. Both the Carolina Hurricanes and Ottawa Senators dropped three spots, to 25 and 26, respectively, not through any great failings of their own, but the Detroit Red Wings, Vancouver Canucks and Calgary Flames all performed better and/or got healthier. Among other Canadian clubs, the Montreal Canadiens are up one spot, to 12, and the Winnipeg Jets are up two spots to 17. The Vancouver Canucks and Calgary Flames are both up a couple of places, to 23 and 24, respectively.
