How can I sort Gmail by date?

You can easily sort Gmail by sender, date, or subject. Users often ask how to sort Gmail inbox by date.  Setting your inbox to sort by newest first is the default sort for most Gmail inboxes, which shows you your messages in chronological order with the newest messages appearing at the top. To reverse this order, inside the inbox, you need to hover your mouse cursor over the message count at the top right corner.
