To pick up Final Fantasy 14's The Man in Black quest, head to Kipih Jakkya in Ul’dah at the Steps of Nald. Your first task is to investigate the area south of the Black Brush Station Aetheryte in central Thanalan after hearing about reports of a mysterious car.
Your destination is near the northwestern part of the red circle that appears on the map. There, you’ll meet a familiar figure from Final Fantasy 15. After the cutscene, you’ll need to complete the nearby FATE that spawns around The Unholy Heir. You may have to wait for it to appear.

During it, you need to dispatch Magitek Soldiers before battling a large mech. Defeat it and move to the next objective, east of Black Brush Station. After the cutscene, head back to speak with Cid, then make your way to Ul’dah, at the Steps of Nald. Speak with Kipih Jakkya where you first picked up the FFXIV Man In Black quest to complete it, earning experience, Gil, and the Lucian Prince’s Fingerless Glove.

Doing so also unlocks the FATE you just completed, making it appear around the Clutch in Central Thanalan over the course of the A Nocturne for Heroes 2021 event. Completing it rewards pieces of Unidentified Magitek that you can exchange for various rewards by speaking with an Ironworks hand at Black Brush Station and in each three of Eorzea’s city-states.
