As a comparative noob here, I am curious as to whether or not there is a gain to destroying a GSA Camp ...

How does doing so actually help a player ?

Hello, it is great source of XP for your commanders, since it grants 1,000 XP per camp's tower (1,500 with premium) and it also gives Beryllium - 2 pcs of Beryllium for each 10 destroyed towers.
